Relief for Pakistan cricket fans
as left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir finally received his Irish visa on Thursday,
paving the way for his participation in the upcoming three-match T20I series
against Ireland.
The
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is scrambling to arrange Amir's quickest possible
flight to Dublin to minimize his absence. A visa delay means Amir will miss the
opening T20I but is expected to link up with the team on Friday.
"Fast
bowler Mohammad Amir will miss the first T20I due to delays in the issuance of
his visa. He is expected to join the side on Friday," confirmed the PCB in
a press release.
The
rest of the Pakistan squad, already in Dublin after arriving via Dubai on
Wednesday, will begin the series on May 10th. All three T20Is will be played at
Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin on May 10th, 12th, and 14th, with a 3 PM local
start time.
This
news comes as a welcome development for Pakistan cricket, especially after
Amir's successful comeback during the recent home T20I series against New
Zealand. The pacer had previously announced his retirement but reversed the
decision before the series.
