Sri Lanka has named their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the USA and West Indies next month.
Wanindu Hasaranga returned from injury to lead the side.
Sri Lanka will be bolstered by the return of experienced campaigners like Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, and Dhananjaya de Silva.
The squad also sees the exciting inclusion of uncapped youngster Dunith Wellalage.
Pacer Matheesha Pathirana, a vital cog in the Chennai Super Kings' IPL campaign, was ruled out with a hamstring niggle on May 5th. Despite ongoing rehabilitation, Pathirana finds himself included in a gamble by the selectors, with his participation in the World Cup still uncertain.
Another fast bowler, Dilshan Madhushanka, also recovered from a hamstring injury that sidelined him from the IPL and earns a well-deserved spot in the squad.
While the final 15 inspire confidence, Sri Lanka will be anxiously monitoring Pathirana's progress. Travelling reserves Asitha Fernando, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Janith Liyanage provide cover for any potential last-minute changes.
